Nicola Banks receives Making a Difference Award for social enterprise One World Together
Professor Nicola Banks has been awarded a University of Ë®¶à¶àµ¼º½ ‘Making a Difference Award’ for her incredible work co-founding One World Together.
The ‘Making a Difference’ awards recognise the work of staff, students and alumni who have greatly contributed to social and environmental wellbeing. was awarded the prize for ‘Outstanding contribution to social and environmental impact through enterprise’, which spotlights innovative solutions to pressing global and community challenges.
Niki and Chibwe Masabo Henry co-founded in 2023 to radically reimagine the current aid system, shifting money and power directly to communities. Through small donations of £1 a month from its Global Citizens, One World Together aims to provide long-term and unrestricted funding to its partners, trusting that they are best placed to allocate money toward those they support.
What would it look like if instead of charity we believed in solidarity? And if we all came together at scale to build a new system of finance for communities, united in our belief in a community-centred future? We believed that it would look beautiful, bright, and filled with potential, optimism and humanity.
